DP Names New COO

Reno, NV –Dermody Properties has announced that John Atwell has been named Chief Operating Officer of Dermody Properties. With more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, Atwell will be responsible for Dermody Properties’ day-to-day leasing, marketing and development activities. 

 

 

“Atwell has developed across the U.S. and is very familiar with the markets in which Dermody Properties has a strong presence,” said Michael Dermody, chairman and CEO of Dermody Properties. “His background brings strength in leasing, sales and development.”

 

 

Prior to joining Dermody Properties, Atwell served as Director of Development of the Western Region for First Industrial Realty-Trust, a national provider of industrial real estate. There, he was responsible for overseeing development and construction projects for the company and its corporate partners from Denver west.

 

 

Atwell, who has led in the development of more than 15 million SF of commercial real estate in his professional career, also served as Senior Vice President and Development Manager for Trammell Crow Company in Irvine, Calif. where he was responsible for industrial real estate projects throughout southern and northern California.

 

 

Receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson  College and his MBA from the University of North Carolina, Atwell also acted as Vice President of Robert Pattillo Properties, a privately held real estate development and investment firm specializing in regional and national distribution centers. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Weeks Corporation, a developer of industrial and suburban office buildings and business parks and helped take the company public in 1997.

Atwell is a member of National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), CoreNet Global and the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.
